Please keep in mind that I am not a physician and the below tips are based completely on my personal experience. Please, keep reading to know more about these tips:

Everest Base Camp Trekking

• Get rid of alcohol, caffeine and smoking throughout the EBC trek. To get the bet result you should stop consuming caffeine at least one week prior to the EBC trek, so that you will not suffer from any withdrawal headache during the hike.

• Drink a minimum of four liters water per days while on the trek. You’ll actually dehydrate much quicker than your imagination and symptoms of dehydration are identical to AMS. So do ensure you’re absolutely dehydrated so that you’ve the luxury to rule out dehydration as soon as the symptoms like headache start emerging.

• Plan your itinerary while keeping the acclimatization days in mind. Two rest days at Namche & Periche are advised. During your rest days, you can request your guide to go for short hikes.

• Use Diamox if you get headache and carry on it till you don’t come down to a lower altitude than where you actually commenced it.

• Ignore sleeping pills. At higher altitude you may have sleeping issues but don’t use sleeping pills. Sedatives decrease the blood flow to your brain and higher altitude where there’s less oxygen already in your blood, it may have stern upshots.

• Don’t opt for sole trekking. Altitude ailments can encompass panic & wild behaviors and you should have somebody with you to pay attention when required. Usually Altitude Mountain Sickness symptoms deteriorate in the night. If the symptom get worse, ensure your friend or guide accompanies you till medical assistance arrives.

• Dress warmly & prevent your body from cooling down. Ensure your outfits are always dry.

• While 1 day of acclimatization at Perchie and Namche are adequate for more than 90 percent of tourists, don’t hesitate to integrate an additional acclimatization day to your trekking itinerary. That may improve your chances of accomplishing EBC from 90 to 98 percent.
