Highlights of 45 Days Cho Oyu Expedition from Tibet side

  • Summit the World's 6th highest mountain
  • One of the easiest and most accessible among other above 8000m peaks
  • One of the classic and famous expeditions

Trip Overview

The world's sixth highest mountain, which is supposed to be a holy mountain to the locals. It stands high above the Tibetan plains on the Nepal / Tibet border which is an ideal choice for mountaineers to go on the eight thousandths. The first climbed was by S. Moechler, H. Tichy and P. Dawa Lama in 1954. Till to date, many expedition teams have successfully reached its summit. Most of the Cho Oyu expedition teams climb from the Tibet side due to the easy technique-climbing route from there. From the summit plateau, the view is breathtaking of mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Chamlang and neighboring high peaks of the Khumbu. The summit attempt is most technically straightforward, accessible and safe to climb. There are normally four different routes of 5000m. with the advanced Base Camp at 5700m. just above a few miles away from a real climb.

We offer you two types of service plans for the Cho Oyu Expedition.

Base Camp Service: USD 19,500 per person (Climbing Sherpa and above Base Camp Service is not included)
Full Board Service: USD 25,500 per person (cost based on 1:1 ratio [1 Climber 1 Climbing Sherpa]

ALTITUDE ACCLIMATIZATION

To get the most from your trek, and to stay safe, it is important to follow acclimatization guidelines. At Makalu Adventure, whenever possible, we follow the acclimatization formula set out by Drs Jim Duff and Peter Gormly; experts in Wilderness Medicine. "Above 2000m, altitude illness is a possibility and above 2500m it becomes common".
"As a rough guide, above 2500m the maximum daily height gain between sleeping altitudes should not exceed 400m, with a rest day every third day or after every 1000m of sleeping ascent".
"Avoid overexertion and breathlessness while acclimatizing, stay well hydrated, avoid alcohol, excess caffeine, salt and protein, your diet should be 70% carbohydrate above 3500m".

Excellent service and a welcome by Makalu Adventure

I've known and worked with Mohan and Makalu Adventure for nearly 15 years. In that time I've led many treks and high altitude expeditions to Nepal (15 expeditions over 8000m and counting). His company provides an excellent service and a welcome that I look forward to every season. The Thamel Eco Resort is a center of tranquility in Kathmandu and the perfect place to start and finish the Himalayan Adventure. The staffs are now like family and I hope to return for many years with the guarantee of safety and security that he offers in the mountains.
