Trip Overview

The Annapurna Sanctuary Trek often referred to as the Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a hike into the dazzling natural amphitheatre encircled by the famous Himalayan peaks – the 'fishtail' spire of Machapuchare (6997m), Gangapurna (7454m), Annapurna I (8091m), the unclimbed Fang (7647m), Annapurna South (7273m), Varaha Shikhar (7847m.) and Gangapurna (7455m). Annapurna Sanctuary Trek is easily accessible from Pokhara, the hidden stronghold of the Annapurna Sanctuary is one of the most popular trekking destinations in Nepal. From the terraced farmland above Pokhara, we trek on good trails through scattered Gurung settlements and abundant forest, climbing gradually into a world of ice and snow.

The combination of picturesque rice-fields and villages, with the panorama of high peaks in the backdrop, offers an extraordinary experience to the visitor. The approach to Annapurna Base Camp -ABC trek, as it is most commonly known follows the Modi Khola valley through a forest of dense rhododendron and bamboos subsequently arriving and passing through different rural communities to a world of soaring Himalayan peaks.

Wounderful Experience of Mardi Himal Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Hi, its Maria from Barcelona, and I have been in Annapurna with Makalu Adventure. Uh, finally our trek changed a little bit because of snow, so we had to trek to Mardi Himal with this beautiful time here in Nepal. We had a great guide Tshiring, a women guide and a very friendly porter called Suku. So we are very happy with the experience, and food was delicious and at the end it was good experience. So I recommend it to you.

Excellent service and a welcome by Makalu Adventure

I've known and worked with Mohan and Makalu Adventure for nearly 15 years. In that time I've led many treks and high altitude expeditions to Nepal (15 expeditions over 8000m and counting). His company provides an excellent service and a welcome that I look forward to every season. The Thamel Eco Resort is a center of tranquility in Kathmandu and the perfect place to start and finish the Himalayan Adventure. The staffs are now like family and I hope to return for many years with the guarantee of safety and security that he offers in the mountains.

    Best Trek Ever

Mohan, congratulations to your great team! We (2 persons) did a private tour from Lhasa heading to the ABC. Our tour finally ended in Kathmandu. The tour was very professional organized, we have exclusively met courteous staff. Not only our Sherpas but also our Yackman where so nice and motivated in providing and supporting a maximum of well- being. Besides the Sherpa capabilities is also to be mentioned the cooking performance of our cook during the trek! Although a pretty challenging trip, I have always felt safe and comfortable. Great experience - I do recommend Makalu Adventure without any restrictions!
