Our hike up to Khare (5,100m, 16,728ft) is short, but we will take it slowly, with frequent stops to soak up the incredible surroundings. The trails heads eastward out of Tangnag, along with the lateral moraine of the Dig Glacier. We will pause to climb up the moraine for a view of the pristine Sabai Tso glacial lake. A drop in lake level, caused by a recent rupture of the natural dam the held the lake, is clearly visible. We will arrive at Khare in the early afternoon and have lunch. From Khare, the beautiful north face of Mera Peak is in plain view and Mera glacier spills steeply down into the valley. Over night at Camp/or local lodge.

Trek To Mera La (Pass 5,350m)
Today we do not have a long day walk but we take a slowly walk ascending up onto Mera glacier. The climb is initially steep, but flattens out as we reach the crest of the glacier. We will traverse a long flat on top of the glacier as we make your way to the pass, called Mera La (5,400m, 17,710ft). From here, the views are stunning. Crevasse fields gently stretch out in front of the pass and we are literally enclosed by a ring of jagged peaks and blue-green glaciers. The remaining route up to the summit of Mera Peak is clearly visible. Over night at Camp
Trek To Mera Peak High Camp
This day we trek gradual ascent path all the way. This area is quite covered by ice glacier. The views make us speechless as we can enjoy the Everest, Makalu, Baruntse, Kusum Kanguru and many other mountains and peaks in panorama. Moreover we feel chill by the magnificent views of Mera Glacier. Over night at camp.
We take this day as a reserve day incase if weather gets bad. It depends on how the weather permit us. If so we can use this day as climbing practice day. Mentally prepare for next morning climbing and over night at camp.
Summit Mera Peak And Return To Rato Odhar. Approx 8-10 hours
The climb to the summit of Mera starts gradually and much will depend on snow and general weather conditions. The central summit will soon appear above the head of a wide glacier flanked by two ridges. We climb the centre of this over open snowfields and avoiding crevasses. The route then swings south-east, skirting below and to the east of the left-hand ridge before turning back rightwards towards the main summit ridge of Mera. Mera actually has three summits; the highest is our objective. We reach this by following a classic snow-ridge to just below the final wall that guards the top. This short steep snow slope is easily climbed but there is a big effort required to climb this last 50 metres. Your reward, however, is a feeling of ecstatic jubilation as you survey the magnificent panorama from the top. After taking pictures and enjoying the view, we descend route back to our campsite at Rato Odar. Over night at Camp
Trek Up To Grass Campsite [5000m]
Leaving camp, we traverse into the Hongu Valley proper amid enchanting views of Chamlang, Makalu and Baruntse. Further on, the trail descends for about 2 hours and then we choose a spot beside the Hongu Khola under the west face of Chamlang for lunching. The trail wends below Chamlang and gradually ascends into the Upper Hongu Valley. After walking for another two hours, we encounter a flat grassy campsite in front of some moraine hills. All along the trail we get to capture the majestic views of Lhotse and Everest. At the head of the Hinku Valley, three passes namely Mingbo La [5817m], Amphu Labtsa [5780m] and West Col / Sherpani Col become visible. Mingbo La [5817m] exits the Hinku Valley close to Ama Dablam. Amphu Labtsa [5780m] crosses further north into the Imja Valley and the West Col/ Sherpani Col leads into the Arun Valley beneath the imposing flanks of Makalu.
Trek To Kalopokhari
Trek To Panch Pokhari [5400m]
The trail gets strenuous as we head to the base camp for the crossing of the Amphu Labtsa. We ascend cautiously at first and then more steeply across moraine until we reach the area known as Panch Pokhari [5 lakes]. As we arrive at Panch Pokhari, we set a camp at a comfortable grassy site beside one of the lakes.
At Panch Pokhari
We indulge in complete relaxation to build up more energy and to remain healthy throughout the trip. After rest, we get more adventurous as we explore nearby interesting places. On ascending a small hill behind the campsite, we get to savour mesmerizing views of Hinku Nup Glacier and Mingbo La. Likewise, we can opt for many other sightseeing.
Trek To Camp At Amphu [5300m] [By The Side Of Imja Glacier]
Early in the morning, we transverse the route leading to the glaciated pass for 2 to 3 hours. As we near the pass, we find ourselves surrounded by stunning sights of South face of Lhotse.
