Trip Overview

We call this the Highest trek in the world, 15 days of culture and wilderness on the Tibetan Plateau.

Everest Advanced Base Camp (Advanced EBC) Trek, one of the popular adventure trekking experiences to the base camp of the world's highest mountain Mt. Everest from Tibet. Hence Advanced Everest Base camp trek is considered the highest trek in the world. Advanced EBC trek offers the best possible closer panoramic views of Mt. Everest North's face from Tibet. Everest Advance Base Camp trek is not a challenging trek however travelers need special packing gear and careful during this base camp trekking. This trek can be done without technical climbing gear or mountaineering skills. Advanced Everest Base camp trek is well crafted and organized so as to offer the beautiful experiences of beautiful, magnificent landscapes of the Himalayas of Tibet (Roof of the World)

With an average altitude in excess of 3500m, Tibet can truly be described as the roof of the world. Lying to the north of the great Himalayan range which separates it from its neighbors India, Nepal, and Bhutan, much of the country is a high-altitude desert. With its spectacular mountain scenery and rich Buddhist culture, Tibet is a remarkable place to visit.

On this trip, we will follow the Friendship Highway through some of the most amazing landscapes on Earth. We'll pass small Tibetan settlements, nomadic herdsmen wandering across the wide arid plains, and awe-inspiring mountain peaks. Equally as fascinating is the wealth of cultural interest and we will have plenty of opportunities to explore this side of Tibet, both in Lhasa and the other towns we pass through on our journey to Kathmandu.

We spend 3 nights in Lhasa, staying right in the center of the old city. This will allow both plenties of time for acclimatization and easy access to the city's main attractions - the Potala Palace and the Jokhang Temple. Leaving Lhasa in our Toyota Landcruiser 4 wheel drive, we'll travel through this amazing country, staying in the best traditional hotels Tibet has to offer. In the towns of Gyantse and Shigatse, we explore further monasteries and fully immerse ourselves in the Buddhist culture.

Without a doubt, a highlight of this trip is the visit to Everest Base Camp, and the trek to Camp 3 at 6340m., where the sheer grandeur of Everest's north face you have to see to believe. This trek takes you as close to the summit of Everest as any non-climber can go. This adventure, the highest trek in the world, is an incredible journey to camp 3 and the base of the North Col via the East Rongbuk Glacier. Nowhere else on this planet can you hike on a trail to such a high elevation without the need for crampons, ice axes, or mountaineering skills.

"Avoid overexertion and breathlessness while acclimatizing, stay well hydrated, avoid alcohol, excess caffeine, salt and protein, your diet should be 70% carbohydrate above 3500m".

Excellent service and a welcome by Makalu Adventure

I've known and worked with Mohan and Makalu Adventure for nearly 15 years. In that time I've led many treks and high altitude expeditions to Nepal (15 expeditions over 8000m and counting). His company provides an excellent service and a welcome that I look forward to every season. The Thamel Eco Resort is a center of tranquility in Kathmandu and the perfect place to start and finish the Himalayan Adventure. The staffs are now like family and I hope to return for many years with the guarantee of safety and security that he offers in the mountains.

Unforgettable trekking tour in Tibet and Nepal

My colleague and myself made a trekking tour in Tibet and Nepal. The whole trip was fantastic and worked perfectly well which is mainly due to the perfect organization of Makalu Adventures. In particular during the hike to the Mt. Everest Advanced Base Camp the team benefited from the experience of the participating tour guide, and the other sherpas and yakmen. Except for that, the sightseeing tours in Tibet were guided by a knowledged local who gave much valuable background information. Therefore, I can strongly recommend Makalu Adventures for such adventure trips in that region.
