British-Bangladeshi mountaineer Akkei Rahaman, is a step closer to achieving his mountaineering goal - climbing all 14 of the world’s 8,000m peaks. On the 25th of September, at 8:34 AM, he reached the summit of Mt. Manaslu (8,163m), the world’s eighth-highest peak.

Rahaman executed an exceptionally fast expedition, completing the "Kathmandu to Summit to Kathmandu" journey for Manaslu in just 11 days. In high-altitude mountaineering, this is remarkably swift, as most expeditions require weeks for acclimatization rotations. Rahaman accomplished this without these lengthy rotations, showcasing incredible physical conditioning and a highly efficient climbing strategy.
His success on Manaslu is only half the story. In the same autumn season, he also successfully summited Ama Dablam (6,812m) in just 8 days. Climbing two significant Himalayan peaks like Manaslu and Ama Dablam back-to-back in such a short timeframe is a rare and formidable feat that no other Bangladeshi-origin climber has accomplished.
His mountaineering achievements also include climbing Mount Elbrus in under 24 hours (the fastest time for a Briton), as well as climbing Kilimanjaro and Mont Blanc in the same year.
Akke Rahaman is the first British Bangladeshi Muslim to have climbed Mount Everest, completing the climb while fasting for Ramadan.
This success on Manaslu comes on the heels of a challenging expedition on K2, the world's second-highest and often considered most dangerous mountain, which he did not summit. To recover from that setback and immediately achieve two rapid ascents in Nepal demonstrates extraordinary mental resilience and focus.
Akke Rahman’s climbing journey includes both personal and social impact. His achievements have been widely recognized by organizations such as Points of Light UK, which commended him for using his adventures to raise awareness and funds for humanitarian causes. He continues to advocate for inclusivity in adventure sports, encouraging people from diverse backgrounds to take up mountaineering and outdoor challenges.

Every summit for Akke Rahman carries a deeper message: that faith, focus, and consistency can move mountains. His journey continues as he eyes the remaining 8,000-meter peaks — Dhaulagiri, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Annapurna, and others - in pursuit of the 14 Peaks Challenge.
As his guiding partner, Makalu Adventure takes immense pride in being part of this inspiring journey that blends adventure, endurance, and purpose.
