21 November, 2020
Makalu Adventure

Are you wondering which the best season for visiting Nepal is? Planning on visiting Nepal the best season depends on what you are doing and for what you are planning with tremendous geographical diversity Nepal has a lot to offer, hand-in-hand through the year. Where the temperature varies with every increasing altitude here. Spring(Mar-May) and Fall(Oct-Nov)  are considered as the best season for adventure trekking to Annapurna Base Camp Trek (ABC Trek) and Gokyo Lake Everest Base Camp Trek. You can find the low land Terai offering you with savanna tropical climate with dry winter and hot summer,  the uphill’s steep that rises and falls sheer has a very steep slope and home to the Himalayas which is chilled through the year. It is totally different picture in mountains. Rising from the low land through the perpetual snowline including the world's highest mountain (Mount Everest or Sagarmatha), the country has much to offer all year round. The low humidity and change in weather are perfect for the photography tour in the context of having the fabulous traveling experience your journey will end in winter.

January to February

The winter season takes the lead in the month of January to February in Nepal. It can be extremely cold in these months. If you are planning on visiting the mountains, this month the weather can be very harsh on the other hand the mid-Winter offers you a clear view of the snow-capped mountains. The temperature in the high elevation is low. If you are planning on visiting Nepal for Christmas and New Year, plan your tour to Kathmandu valley or to Pokhara. For tours like Jungle Safari, White water rafting, Mountain biking, Hiking, Sky Diving, Paragliding, and many more this season is the best for visiting Nepal. Winter is also great for trekking despite the cold weather, there is snowfall on the elevation of the 2500m. The low-humidity and minimal change in weather if perfect for photography and low-elevation hiking with the brilliant sunshine and clear blue sky. Winter is a great time to layer up for exploring the UNESCO world heritage site.

March to May

The snowfall began to stop by calling the beautiful spring ahead. Spring is a good time to visit Nepal. The valleys and forest is fully covered by the rhododendron flowers. March is considered the blooming season. It is the most peak time for hikers, climbers, mountaineers. It is also a great time to explore the Buddhist culture in Nepal. Spring is the season for hikers to begin their journey for high elevation, peak climbing is the most popular trek in this season, from the month of April travel head towards the Everest Base Camp and also a popular time for the short tours like Pilgrims tour, UNESCO World Heritage tour, Sightseeing tour, Recreational tour.

June to August

From the month of June the monsoon started, the monsoon rains began the summer. It typically begins in mid-June from where the leaf-shedding begins and peters out in the last week of September. The average temperature is 25℃. Due to the heavy rainfall in this season, your tour must be flexible especially in July. During June and September, the rain is considerably lighter. You must find the most updated information to travel in this period. If you want to avoid the crowds it is a pleasant time to visit Nepal for peak seasonal price. Exploring Kathmandu with the pagoda style temples, historical heritage. The wildlife photography tour is the best option on the list for visiting Nepal.

Explore Nepal during September to November

Leaving behind the summer, autumn will start its journey.  The autumn is generally clear and dry, during this time the weather is not too cold or too hot. The temperature range is between 10℃ to 25℃. It is the time after the monsoon is over you can enjoy the best panoramic view with the biggest festival celebration of Naples people Dashain and Tihar. It is also a great time to explore the Hindu culture the sky is clear, blue and the weather is clear in Nepal. If you are planning to visit Nepal for trekking, Hiking, climbing, Honey Hunting, Jungle Safari, Paragliding, Nagarkot, white water rafting, Kayaking, high elevation trekking, and mountain biking; this is the best time to visit. In this time the pleasant session and the most ideal condition for adventures are created. Plenty of cultural events are in this season. The stunning Mountain View could be surrounded by the clouds, and you could be caught in snow and rain in early September mid--October to mid-November is the best time for climbing the high elevation in Nepal. The bussing time for the Himalayas will start in September.

November to December

Between November and December is the best time to visit Nepal as the skies are generally clear and the views spectacular. The weather remains dry until about April. If you want to avoid the rainy weather November is your best bet. Note that if the rain finds the way to hit the road it will not affect your sightseeing plan. If you are planning for the upper elevation it is the best months for you to avoid the winter. November and December are dry and warm seasons before the winter, it is best for high altitude expedition such as Annapurna Expedition, Everest Expedition, or Langtang Expedition. There is many short lower- altitude hiking tour you can do around Kathmandu valley. The unspotted forest is one of the best options on the list to hit the road for the trek in these months, as optional there is a Tibetan monasteries trek you can choose from.

Best season for Everest Base Camp (EBC) Trek?

Spring(Mar-May) and Fall(Oct-Nov) are the best seasons for Everest Base Camp Trekking. However, Everest Base Camp with a helicopter (EBC Heli Tour) is recommended except in monsoon season. The best time to visit Everest Base Camp is either side of the late-May to mid-Sep monsoon season. Late Sep-Nov and Feb-May are the main trekking months with fairly stable conditions, good visibility, and temps at Base Camp getting up to about -6°C. Being at such a high altitude, the weather in Everest Base camp is never warm.
