Makalu Adventure is pleased to announce the near 100 % success of its North Side Mt. Everest Expedition in the spring of this year - 2019. This year's expedition consisted mainly of British Expedition group members. The 6 group members led by our veteran climbing Sherpas (including Mr. Phurba Wangchhu Sherpa) arrived in Lhasa on the 10th April to begin their North face adventure in Tibet. Makalu Adventure assisted them from the very moment they landed in Lhasa until they were all safely back home following the successful completion of their North Face climb.

The group flew into Lhasa (3600m) on the 10th April and after spending a few days of initial acclimatization there and doing the city's main attractions left for Gyantse (3950m) on the 12th April. The group arrived to Xigatse, on the 13th April. Xigatse is the second most important city in Tibet.

The group finally arrived to the base camp (5200m) on the 16th April while driving through beautiful landscapes and over a high pass at 5,5200m, exposing some of the stunning views of Everest, Makalu, Lhotse, Cho Oyu and Shishapangma. After arriving base camp the group members were received warmly by the Sherpas crews.

The ceremonial Puja was held on the 18th of April. After the Puja ceremony, it is considered safe for the Sherpas to move up to the mountain in preparation for higher camps. With the Puja already completed the Sherpas are now cleared off by the mountain spirit to move to ABC the next morning.

On the 19th April this was time for the crew to get the loads weighed with the Yak men which is total came down to 800kg involving 20 Yaks to carry the loads. While the expedition group continued with their acclimatization walk some Sherpas set up the base camp radio while the others moved to Intermediate camp before continuing to ABC which was to follow by the group members on the 19th April who eventually made it to the interim camp on the 21st April and to the ABC on the 23rd April from where the group could clearly see the route of North face. The members spent a good few days acclimatizing here before moving up.

The group finally and successfully made it to the summit on the 24th May.

Congratulations to the team for making it and to our hard working Sherpas who made it possible for the team to succeed.
