Rebuilding Nepal

Relief came from all over the world. A month after the earthquake the Management Team of Makalu Adventures had a meeting as to how assist in the relief work. After much contemplation we visited Nuwakot a district badly affected by the earthquake. We came to learn that most of the schools in Nuwakot district had been destroyed.Looking on long term basis we decided to build schools in Nuwakot District.

The villages that we identified as the neediest of education were Arubote, Badeli, Peepal Danda and Jore Chautara. At the initial stage construction was started at Arughati, the next phases will be at Badali then Peepal Danda. We estimate to educate 350 students at the primary level. The total cost for the construction of the school will be borne by Makalu Adventure, Bernhard Buehler from Switzerland, Roy Francis from UK, Tony Arden from UK and Geraldine Sweeney USA.

Our Community service is going ahead. A group of 13 volunteers have come all the way from Switzerland to help in the reconstruction of 3 schools in Nuwakot district.

This is part of the relief work after the devastating earthquake that took place on April 25/04/2015 in Nepal measuring 7.8 richter scale and another one about 8 days later.

The schools in Nuwakot district had been completely destroyed or had suffered damages. The Swiss team headed by Bernhard Buehler are staying in Aruubhota and are personally working and overseeing the construction work.
